Fault cutting Miocene tuff and volcanicalstic deposits. The rocks to the left of the fault are various tuff layers. The prominent black band is a welded tuff comprised of volcanic glass and flattened pumice fragments. To the right of the fault, the dark rock at the base is a conglomerate. This is probably a normal fault in which the left side slid down relative to the right side. This roadcut is located near Resting Spring Pass along Highway 178 east of Shoshone, California. |
