Akaka Falls drops 412 feet into a stream-eroded amphitheater comprised of thin-bedded lavas of the Pleistocene Hamakua volcanic series, Hawaii.

The main and easy loop trail in this park passes through dense tropical rain forest, which includes red ginger, plumeria, azaleas, orchids, birds of paradise, bamboo, banana plants, hapu ferns, and ti plants.
